Conference

We would like to invite you to another edition of the LASER conference, this time, LASER66.

This is an event where experts from both the public and private sectors—who work professionally with lasers, their applications, optics, optical fibres, and sensors—come together to network and exchange information across various fields and approaches. Here you will meet representatives from a wide variety of fields, including laser technology, nuclear technology, quantum technology, optics, optical fibres, fibre-optic systems, and sensor technology. Lasers and optical systems are used almost everywhere today—from nuclear energy and mechanical engineering to cosmetic surgery—and together we can share a wealth of experience and discover new and surprising opportunities for collaboration.

Can’t wait? You can register now and start looking forward to it. If you have any questions, please contact the organising team.

Proceedings from past Laser Conferences are available under the Downloads tab.

Photos from the last Laser65 conference are also in the photo gallery.

This is a popular event where scientific, commercial, and industrial professionals involved in lasers meet to gain information and contacts across different disciplines and approaches.

Invited Lectures

Research on Free-Space Optical Communication at the Institute of with laser beams, and addressing turbulence and diffraction

Prof. Ing. Otakar Wilfert, CSc.

This paper summarises research on free-space optical (FSO) communication conducted at the Institute of Radioelectronics, Brno University of Technology, since 1996 by the OptaBro group. Current projects include mobile optical links, communication between drones and robots, powering drones with laser beams, and addressing turbulence and diffraction. Link quality is determined not only by transmission speed and distance but also by bit error rate (BER) and availability (Pav), which can reach up to 99.999% in Brno. A key tool is a comprehensive link model that combines the components' energy parameters with the statistical properties of the atmosphere. The lecture will outline future directions: FSO in dusty atmospheres, precise beam steering, hybrid networks, quantum communication, and the integration of communication and energy transfer into a single beam.

Prof. Ing. Otakar Wilfert, CSc.

Otakar Wilfert earned his engineering degree (Ing.) in electrical engineering in 1971 and his CSc. degree in applied physics in 1984, both from the Military Academy in Brno. Throughout his career, he served as a professor at the Department of Radioelectronics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication Technologies, Brno University of Technology (VUT), where he currently holds the position of professor emeritus.

He taught courses on “Quantum Electronics and Laser Technology” and “Optoelectronics.” He has focused on free-space optical communication through a series of grant-funded projects by the Czech Ministry of Education and the Czech Science Foundation, publishing his main findings in prestigious journals and at major conferences. His main areas of research include free-space optical communication and laser radar systems.

He is the founder and leader of the OptaBro research group at the Institute of Radioelectronics, which focuses on research into free-space optical (FSO) communication. He is the author or co-author of more than 100 publications.

Contribution to the proceedings

The maximum length of papers is 5 pages. Please submit your papers in PDF or DOCX format no later than October 26, 2026, to laser@isibrno.cz. In the subject line, enter “Contribution to the Proceedings” and name the file LastName_FirstName.docx or LastName_FirstName.pdf. If you do not submit your contribution by the specified deadline, it will not be included in the proceedings.

Please use only the following templates when preparing your contributions:

Proceedings from past Laser conferences are available under the Downloads tab. Login credentials are required to access this tab; we will be happy to send them to you upon request.

Commercial presentations

In 2026, we decided to provide space for our commercial partners’ presentations at the entrance to the main lecture hall. This will give you the opportunity to showcase your offerings right at the heart of the action.

We offer our partners logo placement in the conference proceedings and on the conference website, an introduction at the conference opening, a mention at the start of the evening social programs, and a final acknowledgement at the conclusion of the conference. Partners may also include their promotional flyers (max. 2) and giveaways (max. 2) in the conference bags. We offer each partner the opportunity to give a presentation (oral or poster) as part of the conference program (please indicate this on the registration form during registration).

We offer the following partnership levels:

  • Partner A from 40,000 CZK – Includes a table with two chairs, space for one roll-up banner in the foyer, and space for a roll-up banner in the lecture hall.
  • Partner B from 30,000 CZK – Includes a table with two chairs and space for one roll-up banner in the foyer.
  • Partner C from at 20,000 CZK – A roll-up banner in the foyer.
  • General Partner of the Gala Evening from 80,000 CZK – Exclusive presentation opportunity during the gala evening and other benefits to be agreed upon individually.

Become our Partner.
